History
On March 26, 2002, the main energy companies in Western Switzerland founded EOS Holding as the result of a profound transformation of Energie Ouest Suisse (EOS). The objective was to establish a powerful electric platform in Western Switzerland.
EOS Holding therefore began cooperating with the electric companies of French-speaking Switzerland, principally its shareholders. Its activities were based in Western Switzerland and the Alpine region.
With the merger of its operating assets – particularly its subsidiary Energie Ouest Suisse (EOS), the company Atel Holding and EDF’s contribution of energy rights from the Emosson dam in January of 2009 – EOS Holding was a key actor in the creation of the Alpiq group. This was an important step in the constitution of a powerful electric centre in Western Switzerland. Indeed, Alpiq is an electric company active on a European scale and a leader on the Swiss market.
In the beginning of 2010, EOS Holding began to develop new renewable energies (NER), a promising sector that was already showing strong growth and one that was complementary to its shares in Alpiq.
